If We Ever Meet Again

If We Ever Meet Again is a New Adult romance novel by Ana Huang, and it is the first book in the If Love duet. It tells the story of Farrah Lin, an aspiring interior designer, and Blake Ryan, a former college football star, who meet while studying abroad in Shanghai. 

The novel follows Farrah, who is determined to have her first real love story during her year abroad. However, things get complicated when the person she initially has a crush on is her new friend’s boyfriend. She finds herself increasingly drawn to Blake Ryan, an arrogant yet charismatic athlete who suddenly quit football and came to Shanghai to escape the pressure and drama of his life back home. 

Blake, who believes love is a sham, initially tries to keep his life simple with no commitments. But despite their opposing views on romance and their different personalities, Farrah and Blake’s initial physical attraction develops into a deeper, more profound connection. Over the course of the year, they fall irrevocably in love while exploring the magical city of Shanghai. 

However, their time together is limited. Forces at home—unseen at first—threaten to tear them apart. The novel builds towards a heartbreaking lesson: that sometimes, even the greatest love may not be enough to conquer all. The book ends on a bittersweet note, and the story is concluded in the second book of the duet, If the Sun Never Sets.
